An image of children having fun at Kidspace beat thousands of worldwide entries to a prestigious photographic competition.

The picture, featuring youngsters on Kidspace Romford’s sky trail, helped George Fairbairn to be named ‘The Societies’ Advertising Photographer of the Year 2014.

The Societies is Europe’s largest all-welcome photographic association and its annual competition receives submissions from around the globe.

This year’s competition was said to be one of the strongest and toughest in recent years. More than 12,500 images were entered from many of the biggest names in the business and were judged by 35 of the industry’s most well-known and distinguished names.

On winning the award George said: “This was truly an unexpected honour.  To be selected as the winner amongst entries from some of the world’s best photographers is very humbling.  To win for an image that I put so much of my heart and soul into makes it even more special.”

The judges said: “This image has great impact.  The subjects are having fun, which depicts the excitement to be had at the venue.”
